The NFL season has just started, and we’re all excited for it. While I can’t wait to watch football every Sunday, there isn’t one team in the NFL who is surely going to take home the Lombardi Trophy. So, while there are all kinds of ESPN analysts and professional sports geeks making picks and predictions, I have to put in my two cents and make some predictions. I will be making picks for the super bowl matchup and winner, and I will predict the MVP, OPOY, and DPOY. Also, I am a Giants fan so I wont be biased into thinking we will win anything because that is surely not gonna happen.
There are many incredible defensive talents in the NFL, but one stands out in my opinion: Myles Garrett. He is a man mountain on a stingy browns defense. He consistently has 15-plus sack seasons and is always one of the top contenders for DPOY. I think Garrett is gonna repeat as DPOY. You could say TJ Watt or Micah Parsons are favorites, but Tj Watt is getting old and Micah Parsons’ sack numbers aren’t quite as eye popping as Garretts because he plays multiple defensive positions. In today’s game, DPOY is about the best pure pass rusher.
My OPOY pick is Amon-Ra St. Brown, he is the number one option on a contending lions team with a solid QB, Oline, and good weapons. St. Brown had a great season last year with 1500 yards, but this year, he will only get better. I believe he can eclipse 1700 and 12 touchdowns for the Offensive Player of the Year title. Tyreek Hill and Justin Jefferson are the other contenders, but Hill’s QB situation now looks shaky with Tua perennially injured, and Jefferson’s quarterback has been playing well so far but I don’t believe he can sustain that level of play.
My MVP pick for this year is CJ Stroud. While this may be a surprising pick, he has an outstanding receiving core now with Stefon Diggs, and a solid running back in Joe mixon. His defense looks good so I believe him and the Texans will be a pleasant surprise. Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen are the other contenders, but tehri receivers are shaky and Mahomes performances so far this year have been quite lackluster.
Finally, the Super Bowl. My matchup prediction is Lions-Ravens. The Ravens do look a little shaky to start the season but with Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson leading the offense, along with a great defense, they will get through the early season woes and make it to the big game. On the other Hand, the Lions should have made it last year had it not been for poor coaching decisions, but this year they are just as strong and their secondary looks tighter. I think the Lions are gonna take the Lombardi home this year 30-24 against the Ravens. The only thing stopping them is the Lions curse.
